• How to Jailbreak Your iPad Using RedSn0w (Windows) [4.2.1]

These are instructions on how to jailbreak your iPad on the 4.2.1 firmware using RedSn0w for Windows. The Mac version of this tutorial is here.

You will only be able to perform a tethered jailbreak at this time. This means you will need Redsn0w’s assistance to boot into your jailbroken device.

    Step One
Create a folder on your desktop called Pwnage

Download RedSn0w from here and place it in the Pwnage folder. Likewise, download the latest 4.2.1 firmware from below and place it in the same folder.

    4.2.1: iPad1,1_4.2.1_8C148_Restore.ipsw

Extract the redsn0w executable from the RedSn0w zip file into the same folder.

    Step Two
Connect your iPad to the computer and launch iTunes.

Select your iPad from the list of devices on the left. Now hold down Shift and click the Restore button. Restore is preferred as it won’t create any wasted space on your iPad.

Navigate to the Pwnage folder on your desktop and select the 4.2.1 firmware ipsw. Click the Choose button to continue.

    Step Three
Once iTunes has finished updating your iPad to the desired firmware open the Pwnage folder on your desktop and launch the redsn0w application from the redsn0w folder we extracted earlier.

    Step Four
Once RedSn0w opens click the Browse button

    Step Five
Select the 4.2.1 firmware ipsw we placed in the Pwnage folder on our desktop then click Open.

    Step Six
Once the firmware has been verified click the Next button to continue.

    Step Seven
RedSn0w will now prepare the jailbreak data

    Step Eight
From this window you can select the jailbreak options you would like. Make sure Cydia is selected and click the Next button to continue.

    Step Nine
Please plug your iPad into the computer and make sure its OFF then click the Next button

    Step Ten
RedSn0w will now guide you through the steps to get into DFU mode.

Hold down both the Home button and the Power button for 10 seconds.

Release the Power button and continue holding the Home button until RedSn0w detects the device.

    Step Eleven
    Your iPad will now reboot

    Step Twelve
RedSn0w will then begin uploading the new RAM Disk and Kernel.

    Step Thirteen
Once this is complete you will be notified that RedSn0w is done. Click the Finish button. When your iPad finishes rebooting (5 minutes or so) it will be jailbroken with Cydia on the SpringBoard.

    IMPORTANT:
To use Redsn0w to help you boot back into your jailbroken device simply select Just boot tethered right nowfrom the options window and click Next.

  • Apple CEO Steve Jobs Announces Medical Leave

Mobile Marketing Apple CEO Steve Jobs Announces Medical LeaveOn Monday, Apple Chief Executive Officer Steve Jobs announced his decision to take a medical leave of absence from his company.

This will be Jobs’ second departure in only two years.

“At my request, the board of directors has granted me a medical leave of absence so I can focus on my health,” Jobs wrote. “I will continue as CEO and be involved in major strategic decisions for the company.”

Apple issued a press release on Monday to make the announcement, which states that Chief Operating Officer Tim Cook will preside over the company’s day to day operations for an indefinite period of time.

“I love Apple so much and hope to be back as soon as I can,” Jobs wrote. “In the meantime, my family and I would deeply appreciate respect for our privacy.”

Jobs returned to Apple from his previous medical leave in June 2009 following a liver transplant. Five years prior, Jobs underwent surgery for pancreatic cancer.

Apple undoubtedly opted to make the announcement on Martin Luther King Jr. Day in light of the fact that markets are closed. NASDAQ – the market in which AAPL trades – would likely have been rocked by news of Jobs’ departure.

On Tuesday, Apple will announce its quarterly earnings.

  • Crazy iPhone 5 Prediction

If you haven’t been living under a rock, you probably know that this past week Verizon announced that iPhone 4 (or iPhone in general) is finally going to be available on Verizon’s network. Once the excitement wore off, I got to thinking. Actually, I started thinking this several weeks before the announcement, since the rumor mill had been reaching a fever pitch, and I was skeptical.

So as you probably know, up until now there has always been a new iPhone released every summer. That is, in the US, there has always been a new iPhone on AT&T’s GSM data network every summer. And since the GSM iPhone 4 came out on AT&T’s network last summer, it would logically follow that the iPhone 5 (or whatever Apple decides to call it) will be released for AT&T customers this summer.

But where does that leave Verizon? iPhone 4 is going to be released on Verizon’s CDMA network on Feburary 10, a full 7 months after iPhone 4 debuted on AT&T’s service. If Apple keeps their release schedule on Verizon similar to AT&T’s, that means that iPhone 5 will come to AT&T this summer, while Verizon will have to wait until February 2012 to get the iPhone 5. This makes absolutely no sense.

So here’s my wild theory, based on absolutely no real evidence.

CDMA iPhone 4 comes out on February 10 on Verizon as planned. Then, in the Spring, the white iPhone 4 will not come out, despite what Apple said last October. In June, Apple will announce a simple iPhone refresh, probably still called iPhone 4 or something. In this refreshed iPhone 4, Apple will nix the 16GB version and lower the price of the 32GB version by $100. They will also introduce a 64GB model, a first for iPhones. The A4 processors in these iPhones will also receive a minor speed boost. And finally, these new iPhones will be sporting a new hybrid CDMA/GSM cellular chip, which will make it so that the phones work on any carriers’ networks, but unfortunately will only see wide usage for a year. This is because in summer 2012, an LTE-based iPhone 5 will be released on both Verizon and AT&T.

  • You can use T-Mobile with the iPhone mini? I tell you

The other day I received an email from someone, the carrier said it was interested in the iPhone clone “new pink mini”, but it was a customer of T-Mobile and do not have to change. He wanted to know if he could stay with the same power, if they decide to buy this phone. First I had to make it clear that they discuss CECT KA08 is often called the iPhone. He did not know the name of the phone, but certainly say what they do. ITell them what I told her, later in this article.

All GSM carriers (including T-Mobile) Will KA08 work well with the Mini: A very cool thing is that these clones do not require a long-term commitment or contract. In today’s economy, this can be very attractive. If you are tired of the phone or see a new model that you prefer, you can simply change your GSM SIM card. You do not have to wait for the contract and notFor features that do not pay us. In other words, no need to have the same bill every month. May vary depending on what services you buy for this month (if you choose to pay as you go).

With that said, this is limited to firms that go with GSM SIM cards. Thus, the CDMA carriers such as Virgin Mobile, Sprint, Verizon and Metro PCS does not work with these phones. But if a GSM carrier, this phone gives you plenty of options. It ‘s small, but powerful dual-SimSlot, shake Web browsing, and the tip, e-mail, MMS, SMS, Bluetooth, FM radio, camera and web cam and MP3 / MP4.

A monthly plan, Prepaid or Pay As You Go with T-Mobile and the iPhone Mini: As I write this, you have lots of options with T-Mobile. Many people who are attracted to the option mini-clones of the iPhone really like the pre-paid. I really have two options. You can “pay day” or “pay as you go”. If you go with the option every day, you pay $ 1per day (which is paid only on days you use your phone) and then 10 cents per minute. You can free to other customers of T-Mobile talk about clock 19.00 bis 07.00 clock.

Included with the “pay as you go, you basically buy cards to recharge the minutes. If you use the phone, the minute you pay and have to fill out when they expire or are exhausted. There are several options for the cards. Examples are 30 minutes for $ 10, $ 25 for 130 minutes, $ 50 for 500 minutes and 1000 minutes for $ 100. $ 100Card takes a full year. This will bring your account for less than $ 10 a month, if not with all those minutes.

There is also a monthly “Flex Plan” with T-Mobile, which is no longer a credit check, deposits, fees or surcharges. This floor is where the “Favorites” is basically you can choose any five numbers on any network for unlimited calls to be recorded. Do not use your minutes for these five people. Plus you get unlimited nights and weekends. Another 300 minutes on this planis $ 39 per month and the prices go up from there. If the “My Faves” option not want to specify, then the price drops to $ 29.

As you can see, there are many possibilities. The person that you want to e-mail probably sent in their current plan and would only change the SIM card, but there are many other options available to him.

  • More about Cydia

Cydia is a replacement packaging and repository manager for the original Installer.app for the iPhone or iPod touch. It was created by Jay Freeman to replace BSD Subsystem and Installer.app.To get Cydia you need to have installer.app already.Cydia’s repositories allow the installation of software packages, most of which are available to download at no cost.Cydia also includes the Cydia Store, which offers a number of applications for sale.

Cydia itself looks similar to Installer.app but add many improvements to organization, functionality and performance of Installer.

With Cydia you can see the number of apps in each category, see details of what installing each app include such as file size and functionality added, search for apps by name, see changes to your currently installed apps and available upgrades, see details of currently installed app and easily manage them.

You can share your iPhone’s 3G connection with your laptop using MyWi, or get notified in your status bar of new mail and texts using StatusNotifier.

Cydia is not required to install APT packages; however, it is greatly encouraged by most users as it provides a much easier way to find, install, and manage packages.

In addition to offering applications to install, as of September 2009, Cydia was further improved to cache the digital signatures known as SHSH blobs used by Apple to verify restores of the iOS firmware. This gives users the benefit of being able to downgrade their firmware to a previous version by means of a replay attack.
